China

China has the largest population in the world, estimated to be 1.3 billion (2004). Its land area is slightly smaller than the United States. The climate is quite diverse, ranging from tropical in the south to sub artic in the north. Agriculture represents 15% of their economy and the purchasing power is approximately $5,000 per person.

Chinese emigration to the United States has been extensive. The population of Chinese-Americans was estimated to be 2.5 million in 2000.
