There are 36 countries in the Americas with the United States having the largest population (280 million) followed by Brazil (180 million) and then Mexico (100 million). Eighteen countries have Spanish as at least on their official languages. For more information on this region you can visit the website of the Organization of American States http://www.oas.org/ which was founded in 1948 and has representation from 35 of the 36 countries in the region. (Cuba is not a member).
